“Newsweek” or “Newsweak?”
by Steve Higginbotham
The December 15, 2008 issue of “Newsweek” magazine attempts to support “homosexual marriage” by appealing to Scripture. Yes, you read that correctly. In the current issue, the magazine cover reads, “The Religious Case For Gay Marriage.” Under the cover of “Our Mutual Joy,” Newsweek attempts to formulate an argument from the Bible to support homosexual marriage. Below are the bulk of the arguments made, and a brief response.
Newsweek Exhibit A – Why should one look to the Bible to define marriage. The Bible says that Abraham had a child by his wife’s servant. Jacob fathered children by four women. And shall we speak of David and Solomon? No sensible modern person wants marriage to look, in it’s particulars, like what many people practiced in Bible times.
Defense – It is a gross misapplication and misunderstanding of the Bible to site an action recorded therein, and then assume that the action has divine approval. The Bible is a record of inspired teaching as well as uninspired actions.

Liberals aren’t just trying to silence Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and other conservatives on talk radio in their mad dash to reinstate the so-called Fairness Doctrine…
…It appears they have their sights set on shutting down CONSERVATIVE CONTENT YOU READ ON THE INTERNET AS WELL
FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell recently told an audience at the Heritage Foundation:
“Speech limits might not stop at radio. They could even be extended to include the Internet and ‘government dictating content policy.'”
The Liberal media is covering just about every aspect of the Democrat National Convention this week, but you probably won’t see anything in the news like what Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media recently wrote about the Democrat Platform:
“’We will encourage diversity in the ownership of broadcast media, promote the development of new media outlets for expression of diverse viewpoints, and clarify the public interest obligations of broadcasters who occupy the nation’s spectrum,’ the Democratic platform says.”

08 Presidential Candidates
I have created a PDF file (56 pages) of the transcript from the recent Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency. I tried to make it easier to read (it is a machine-generated transcript) by highlighting the words from Rick Waren to better distinguish the answer from the two candidates. You may reach this transcript by clicking H-E-R-E.
I just signed a petition demanding that Congress lift the federal ban on offshore drilling immediately (before they take their month-long summer break). Members of Congress are doing nothing while gas prices soar. Let’s put their feet to the fire! Join me in signing H-E-R-E.
I have just read a speech made by John Coleman regarding the connection between Al Gore’s campaign for global warming and $4 per gallon gasoline. John Coleman was at one time the weatherman for “Good Morning America,” and is the one who began THE WEATHER CHANNEL. It was most interesting! One of his remarkable statements was…
I suspect you haven’t heard it because the mass media did not report it, but I am not alone on the no man-made warming side of this issue. On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released. Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.D’s. Think about that. Thirty-one thousand. That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel. In the past year, five hundred of scientists have issued public statements challenging global warming.
